Shemilt exhibited a number of works in the lower gallery as part of the 1976 New Contemporaries.
Works included the photo installations Constraint, and Art Into Protest, and the 16mm film, Protest, (B/W, 10.35 mins, silent) 16mm Film, 1976. The main image on the New Contemporaries Poster featured Constraint.
